Fashion MOvies and TV Shows!

For the past few years, fashion has played a very important role in the movie and television industry. People have started to follow trends seen in them. Two great examples of tv shows that influences many teens these days are the popular tv shows Gossip Girl and 90210. Every single day i see people at my school, my friends and even my cousins wearing similar clothes from this show and why not?! Tv shows have always made a great impact in the way we dress.

Now two great fashion movies i could suggest for you guys to watch would be The Devil Wears Prada and Sex and The City: The Movie. Both of these movies show an amazing selection of clothing many of us wear today. If you guys are truly fans of clothes and accessories these movies would definitely be for you!

A Moda do o Brasil!

Last year I went to Brasil to do a youth exchange program. While i was there i had the opportunity to watch the Fashion Week in the city i lived in, Juiz De Fora.

If you remember from my previous post i talked about Philippine Fashion Week, so for today's post i'd like to talk about Brasilian fashion and give you an outsider's point of view on their fashion styles.

For Brasil Fashion Week, I noticed a lot of flowy, loose and layered clothing. The collections I saw were simple but detailed, with colorful fabric. Brasilian women like to wear dresses and tops that fall loosely on their bodies. For the men on the other hand, fitting T-shirts that hug every muscle on there body is what they prefer. A lot of the men are also into wearing board shorts, i guess this gives them a more relaxed and laid back feel to their outfits that the women also seem fond of.

Fashion Week 2010!

Last Friday I went to the SM Department Store fashion show for Philippine Fashion Week. I was extremely excited to see all the collections! It was amazing! There was the punk rocker collection, the channel and balenciaga influenced collection, the disco collection, the beachwear collection and for the finale; the black and red collection.

The set-up of the show was just fantastic, i thought the idea of making the stage look like a never ending box gave the whole show an edge. Before then i had never been to Philippine Fashion Week, and having been able to go watch was just such an opportunity for me.

The collections that came out on the runway really showed that SM's department store is really going up a notch on their selection of clothing. They are definitely getting trendier each time.. Well that sounds great to me! Great Clothes for such affordable prices! Go SM! :)

ANimal Print???

I was walking on High Street  one afternoon and i couldn't help but notice all the animal print accessories and clothing around. Where did this funky trend come from? So i went on the net and checked it out.

I found out that animal print clothing actually came to be because the army realized that bright gaudy red uniforms made it easier for the enemy to spot them. Hence making them create more camouflage looking uniforms. Designers then started to create clothes and accessories that were influenced by this change. The use of leopard, cheetah, wildcat, tiger, and zebra prints were most used in the fashion world. COOL HUH?

Trends All Around Me

People walk around portraying different personalities. You see them expressing themselves in so many ways, some in music, some through art, others in dance and another through their own styles in fashion.

The other day for my Trends class my classmate and I had to go around Bonifacio High Street and take paparazzi shots of people with trendy outfits. It was quite fun to run around the place and scout for people who were wearing stylish clothes. We even had to pretend to pose ourselves so it wouldn't be too obvious. By the end of the class though, my partner and i were able to take a few good pictures for our project.

Below i posted 2 of my favorite photos, they are both wearing two ongoing trends today. If you guys are the type of people who keep up these trends here are a little facts about how these trends came to be. Hope you guys find it interesting!

The first i have here is the ONE-SHOULDERED Dress
What influenced this trend were the greek and roman goddesses. They portrayed such elegance that designers thought to create a similar garment to make women feel that they too could be as elegant and beautiful as a goddess.
Plus one thing about this dress is that it has been an ongoing trend for a few years. According to www.fashionising.com it is said to be coming back in for spring/summer 2010. So get ready for it guys! The One-shouldered dress is back!

Next i have the PUNK ROCKER LOOK
Guess what?! Studs are back in! For spring/summer 2010 the cyberpunk trend is coming into the fashion scene. This look came to be in the 1970s in London. It was seen as an anarchic and aggressive movement. People saw themselves to be as anti-fashion urban youth street culture. Fashion during this time included spiky hair, black t-shirts and studded bracelets. The clothes during this era suited those people who had a tight budget in their hands. I guess the "I dont care so much, Im a rebel." look has definitely found its way back.

Anyways this is what i have for today, hope you liked everything! Have a great day you guys! See ya!
